Biography
Education and Post-Graduate Training
Maureen Brown currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor and the Interim Executive
Director of the Dental Hygiene Program at the Texas A&M College of Dentistry.
Professor Brown received her Associate of Sciences from Eastfield College, Bachelor of Science
in Dental Hygiene from Texas A&M University Health Science Center, Baylor College of
Dentistry, and Master of Science in Higher Education from Texas A&M University Commerce.
She has more than 20 years of experience in clinical practice as a registered dental hygienist. She
has received various awards over her tenure as a Clinical Assistant Professor with Texas A&M
College of Dentistry, including the Teaching Excellence Award, Faculty Development
Committee in 2024, Dental Hygiene Teacher of the Year in 2021, Student Council Persons of the
Month Award in November 2020, and The Distinguished Achievement Award College Level
from The Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University in Fall 2019.
Professor Brown is an active member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, Texas
Dental Hygienists’ Association, Dallas Dental Hygienists’ Association, Association for Dental
Safety, Dental Hygiene Educators of Texas, International Association for Disability & Oral
Health, American Dental Education Association, American Academy of Dental Hygiene,
American Academy of Periodontology Dental Hygiene Recognition Program, and Sigma Phi
Alpha Dental Hygiene Honor Society-Beta Chapter. She also currently serves as the
Secretary/Treasurer for the Sigma Phi Alpha Dental Hygiene Honor Society-Beta Chapter, and
Chair for the Dental Hygiene Educators of Texas Scholarship Committee.
She currently serves as course director for Theory of Dental Hygiene Practice II and National
Board Review. Additional clinical teaching responsibilities are in Preclinical Dental Hygiene,
and Clinical Dental Hygiene courses I-IV.
