Biography
Education and Post-Graduate Training
Dr. Feng-Ming Wang is a Clinical Associate Professor and serves as an assistant program director for the Endodontic residency program. He received a DDS degree from Nanjing Medical University (Nanjing, China) in 2001 and then a Ph.D. degree in oral science from West China College of Stomatology (Chengdu, China) in 2006. From 2007 to 2011, he completed postdoctoral training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. From 2012 to 2014, he was appointed as a Research Assistant Professor of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. From 2014 to 2016, he attended an endodontic residency program at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Dentistry. Dr. Wang is a board-certified endodontist and Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics.
Dr. Wang’s research interests include regenerative endodontics, vital pulp therapy, inflammatory bone diseases, autophagy, and cellular signaling (e.g. unfolded protein response). He is the first scholar to demonstrate the acetylation, a post-translational modification, of two transcription factors: X-box Binding Protein 1 and Growth Factor Independent 1. He has authored multiple scientific articles in international journals in the field of medicine and dentistry with Google Scholar citations over 800 times. He was awarded the 2011 Young Investigator Award by the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR).
Dr. Wang is a member of the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) and serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics (JOE) and the AAE Research and Scientific Affairs Committee. He also serves as a reviewer for other major journals in dentistry such as the Journal of Dental Research and the International Endodontic Journal. Dr. Wang has recently been appointed as a test constructor by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) for the Integrated National Board Dental Exam (INBDE) and the Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT).
