Biography
Dr. Hoda Abdellatif’s career in full-time dental education began following her graduate studies in the U.S. where she received her master's and doctorate degrees in Dental Public Health/Oral Epidemiology from the University of Michigan. She also received training in evidence-based health care from Oxford University in the UK.
In her career as a full-time faculty member, she enjoyed the privilege of teaching in both the pre-doctoral and doctoral programs; and developed and taught many courses in the field of public health at both the DDS and masters levels. She assisted in introducing the concept of Evidence-based Dentistry (EBD) at TAMU College of Dentistry. She has led in developing and implementing EBD courses that became part of the required curricula. She collaborated in the redesigning, planning, and implementation of several courses in the predoctoral and doctoral programs in the Public Health Sciences Department.
Dr. Abdellatif has served the dental community (both within the School and within professional societies); she has been active in serving the patient community through outreach programs that are both educationally- and clinically focused.
In the area of research, she is best characterized as an oral epidemiologist with a particular interest in preventive dentistry, dentistry for the underserved, alternative dental delivery care systems, and public health policy.
Over the past 30 years, she has had the opportunity to serve in several different capacities in many professional organizations. Dr. Abdellatif has held multiple leadership positions in dentistry and has made contacts (and many friends) in dental education, private practice, research, and industry.
